Every generation is remembered for a handful of men and women who choose service over comfort, sacrifice over applause, and people over personal ambition. In Idemili North and South, many believe Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene belongs to that rare class of leaders whose life’s journey has been defined not merely by professional success, but by an unwavering commitment to lifting others.
Born on 2 January 1977 at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Rivers State, Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene is the second son of Ogbueshi Sir Martin Anyamene, KSJI, and Lady Juliana C. Anyamene. Though born outside his ancestral homeland, he was raised with values deeply rooted in discipline, integrity, hard work, faith and compassion—principles that have remained the foundation of his personal and professional life.
His educational journey began at Army Children School, GRA, Port Harcourt, before proceeding to Command Secondary School, Bori Camp, where he distinguished himself academically and developed a passion for science and technology. He later gained admission to the University of Port Harcourt, where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering.
For Engr. Anyamene, education was never merely about earning degrees; it became a lifelong commitment to continuous learning and professional excellence. Over the years, he acquired
several internationally recognised certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional
(CCNP) and the highly respected Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE). His academic and professional development later took him to the United States, where he further strengthened his expertise through advanced studies in information technology, systems engineering and project management.
Engr Eric Nnamdi Anyamene’s professional career flourished in the United States, where he built an impressive reputation within the Telecoms and Technology industry. He rose through the ranks to achieve greatness. He started as an Optical Field Engineer with MCI and Worldcom. Soon after, with greater proficiency, he advanced to senior technical and management operations and positions with globally recognised companies, including Verizon Communications.. Through competence, innovation and exemplary leadership, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike, establishing himself as a Nigerian professional making significant contributions on the global stage.
Despite a successful career and a comfortable life abroad, home remained close to his heart.
In 2013, he made what many describe as the defining decision of his career. He voluntarily returned to Nigeria, leaving behind the comforts and opportunities of corporate America to contribute directly to national development.
He was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Projects Monitoring and Inspection to the then Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed. His diligence and capacity for delivering results soon earned him additional responsibilities as Senior Special Assistant on Information and Communications Technology (ICT). His public service journey later continued in Bauchi State, where he served as Senior Special Assistant on Multilateral Affairs before his appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Strategy and Special Duties, contributing to governance, infrastructure delivery, development partnerships and strategic policy implementation.
Away from government service, however, another concern increasingly occupied his mind.
Every visit home exposed painful realities. Talented young people abandoned educational dreams because they could not afford examination fees. Widows struggled to provide meals for their families. Communities endured inadequate healthcare and poor infrastructure. Young graduates searched endlessly for opportunities, while many rural communities remained underserved.
For Engr. Anyamene, these were not mere statistics in policy documents. They were the daily realities of ordinary people whose lives deserved hope, dignity and opportunity.
Convinced that genuine leadership begins with compassion and community service, he consulted widely with respected stakeholders, traditional rulers and community leaders in Obosi before establishing a structured platform for sustainable humanitarian intervention.
On 29 May 2023, the Eric Nnamdi Anyamene Foundation (ENAF) was officially registered. Its mission was simple.
Its philosophy was powerful.
“We Rise By Lifting Others.”
Those words quickly evolved from a slogan into a guiding principle that continues to shape every intervention of the Foundation.
One of ENAF’s earliest flagship initiatives was the Zero Hunger Programme.
In December 2023, the Foundation distributed over 600 bags of rice to vulnerable families across Obosi. Encouraged by the overwhelming impact, the intervention expanded in 2024 to over 1,000 bags, covering both Obosi Inland and Obosi Urban communities.
By 2025, the programme had grown significantly, with more than 5,000 bags of rice distributed across the seventeen communities of Idemili North and South, providing relief to thousands of households during the festive season.
Education soon became another defining pillar of ENAF’s work.
Recognising that financial hardship should never deny deserving students the opportunity to pursue higher education, the Foundation introduced its annual JAMB Sponsorship Programme.
The initiative began in 2024 with the sponsorship of one hundred indigent students from Obosi. Another one hundred students benefited in 2025.
In 2026, the programme expanded dramatically, sponsoring 1,000 JAMB candidates across Idemili North and South, making it one of the most extensive privately funded educational support initiatives within the constituency.
Beyond examination sponsorship, ENAF identifies exceptional students annually and provides full university tuition scholarships.
Today, more than twenty beneficiaries remain under the Foundation’s scholarship programme, with several already recording outstanding academic performances, including First Class honours.
For Engr. Anyamene, education represents more than philanthropy. His intervention in education transcends philanthropy….
It is an investment in the future leadership, prosperity and transformation of society.
Healthcare has equally remained central to the Foundation’s mission.
Since 2023, ENAF has organised comprehensive medical outreaches benefiting over 1,500 households, offering free blood pressure screening, diabetes testing, BMI assessment, eye examinations, medicated glasses, deworming for children, hypertension management, essential medicines, blood pressure monitors, glucometers, specialist consultations and referrals.
Delivered through facilities including the Obosi Primary Health Centre and Dynasty Hospital and Maternity, Ojoto, these interventions have improved access to quality healthcare for many families who would otherwise struggle to obtain such services.
Community development has remained another important area of focus.
To improve public safety, enhance nightlife and stimulate economic activities, ENAF has installed approximately 140 solar-powered street lights across Obosi, while plans are underway to extend similar projects to neighbouring communities including Alor, Uke, Ideani and Umuoji.
The Foundation has also quietly assisted numerous young people in securing employment within federal institutions, including the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army.
Women have received business support grants.
Churches and community development associations have benefited from infrastructure and social intervention projects.
The Foundation has supported cultural preservation through the widely celebrated Revival Obosi Dialect Initiative, while annual praise and worship programmes have continued to unite residents in thanksgiving, fellowship and hope.
Throughout these interventions, one theme remains unmistakable.
For Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene, leadership is not defined by political office, titles or public recognition. It is measured by the lives transformed, opportunities created, communities strengthened and hope restored.
Today, across Idemili North and South, many beneficiaries see in him not simply an engineer, entrepreneur or public servant, but a leader whose actions consistently reflect his convictions.
His story is one of sacrifice over comfort. Service over self.
Compassion over convenience.
Yet, perhaps the most important chapter is still being written.
After decades of professional excellence, public service and grassroots humanitarian engagement, Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene now seeks to translate years of experience into broader legislative representation—bringing the same passion for service, accountability and development to the people of Idemili North and South.
